Wozniak blasts redistricting commission’s self-appointed pay raise

LANSING, Mich. Sen. Doug Wozniak blasted a decision by the Michigan Independent Citizens Redistricting Commission on Thursday to give its members a 7% raise, citing rising inflation for the so-called cost-of-living adjustment.

“All of us feel the effects of skyrocketing inflation, but virtually no one has the luxury of giving themselves a raise whenever they want,” said Wozniak, R-Shelby Township. “It doesn’t make any sense that these commissioners deserve a pay raise at the tail end of a job that is nearly complete and with the panel already facing a $1.2 million budget deficit, especially when the group has been in existence for just a little over a year.”
